Still nowadays, there are people living in Russia and in Estonia who have closely or remotely been the actors or victims of a tragic destiny. We keep all the thoughts of quarrel and vain suspicions far from us. If we make place to certain memories, it is only because we hope to create such new conditions that the past would never be repeated and the future would bring about a reconciliation with all the Orthodox population in this country. Question: Metropolitan Stephanos, one of the most surprising events of last month in Estonia was the registration of the Moscow Patriarchate Church structure under the name Estonian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. Many Orthodox have certainly questions, doubts and guesses about that registration. For that reason I ask Your Eminence to share a little more light on this matter. Answers:1) Concerning the registration of the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate in Estonia. Estonia is based on rule of law. Both private persons and organizations must be subject to the laws of the state. Keeping this in mind, the registration of the local structure of the Moscow Patriarchate was totally inevitable.
